New iPods

Evolution rather than revolution reigns at Apple with this year's refresh of their iPod lineup. No real bad thing in that as it's a pretty well-rounded range at the moment. So, we'll take you through the updates model by model:

iPod Touch

The more expensive end of the range has been refreshed, but possibly with a tinge of disappointment for many who've been tuning into the internet rumours over the past few months. So, no camera, but bigger capacities - on top of the base level 8GB, we now have 32GB and 64GB options - that's a lot of storage for a flash player!

The processor has also been boosted in line with the iPhone 3GS - something that's less visible, but gives apps more horespower to work with and will make the more complex games and apps sure to be created for 3GS zip along on touch as well.

iPod Nano

Nano gets the more beefy update - although the looks are basically the same. Screen size has been increased - to 2.2 inches - not class leading, but certainly more useful than previously. There's a first for an iPod - a built-in FM radio with live pause and iTunes tagging on music. There's also a microphone for recording and a built-in pedometer (to keep track of steps for fitness buffs) but the big thing is video recording.

Yes, the rumours were true - you can record video onto your iPod. It even has film filters and special effects you can apply in real time. It's a big shift for Apple - moving from making pure media players in the nano to including more functionality. It's something other manufacturers have been doing for some time, but Apple have stolen the march with the video recording - it'll be interesting to see how this works.

We'll have the new models in stock soon, so keep an eye out for them - of course, it's probably also worth looking out for the deals we'll be able to do on the outgoing models!

The P7 is one of those players that comes along once in every while that you feel will stand out from the crowd. Often, it’s at the detriment of the usability and versatility of the player, but in this case, it makes it much more complete and a real joy to use.

The bare facts are that this is a 4.3” touchscreen media player, with great video support and Flash based memory (up to 16GB).
