Well, it's got 2 small satellite stereo speakers that carry the mid-range and high frequencies and one bigger box with the bass speaker installed. The benefit of this arrangement is that the bits you see (the satellite speakers) can be very small and inobtrusive. Because the human ear has no directonal sensitivity to bass, you can place the bass speaker under a table, or in a corner out of the way. Ideal for a permanent room location with a good 18W output. The iPod dock is a separate little cradle that you can also place anywhere, with a USB connection, so it can be used to connect to a PC to synchronise - it'll also charge the iPod when docked. The cradle also has an S-Video output, to let you connect your iPod with video capability to a TV.
